Fencing opens the Sport Gran Gala in Margherita di Savoia Martino: "Foggia 2019 is a big chance for territorial development"

Margherita di Savoia - Fencing inaugurated the Sport Gran Gala at the city amphitheater "Giuseppe Piazzolla", in Margherita di Savoia,  organized by the Municipality of the Saltpans city. The kermesse celebrated Sport excellence and set up a link towards the Cadets and Junior European Fencing Championship planned from 20 February to 3 March 2019.

The soiree, presented by the journalist Sirio Palladino and the tv-radio host Lele Procida, started with a short foil fencing exhibition bout by Francesco Pio Iandolo and Ludovica Di Mola, athletes from the Dauno Fencing Club, awarded for the prestigious results gained during the last fencing season.

After, Renato Martino - President of Foggia 2019 Organizing Committee, highlighted the numbers of the continental event, even closer: "Everyone wants to organize the Cadets and Junior European Championship because it sees the participation of about 1250 athletes between 14-19 years old, coming from over 40 different Federations, together with their families and trainers: numbers that show us how this event can be a great chance for tourist promotion and territorial marketing. I also seize on the opportunity to invite you all at Fiera in Foggia, where the European Championship will take place: you will see the best european fencers youth!".

Antonio Tanzi - Regional FIS Councilors presented the compliments of Matteo Starace - Puglia Federscherma President: "Apulian Fencing praises a great tradition, this is the reason why we are always looking for new talents. To publicize our discipline it is important to be present in event like this, bringing fencing in places where there isn't yet a fencing club: our club policy is to encourage the participation of youths in order to foster the education of new blood".
