Foggia, one step closer to Cadets and Junior European Championships

Foggia - Great success for the Conference "Communication of great sport events" realized by the 2019 Cadets and Junior European Fencing Championship Local Organizing Committee and included in the educational programme activities accredited by the National Council of the Journalist Association. Among the institutional partners, attended the event Sergio Cangelli - Sport Assessor for Municipality of Foggia, Gianni Rotice - President of local Confindustria (Federation of Italian Employers) section and Fabio Porreca - President of the Chamber of Commerce of Foggia, where the conference took place. Many students, who will be involved as volunteers during the Championships, from "Blaise Pascal" high school even attended.

Renato Martino - President of Foggia 2019 Cadets and Junior European Fencing Championship, welcomes the audience by introducing the numbers of the kermesse that will take place in Apulia from the 22nd of February to the 3rd of March: "We will work very hard because the Cadets and Junior European Fencing Championships are one of the five most important events that Italy will host in 2019. Foggia, with its great fencing tradition, will be at the centre of Europe for ten days: this is one of the most desired events in the fencing environment because it engages about 1250 athletes, with their staff and families. These numbers give us the idea of what would be the economic impact over our territory. I am sure that Foggia will be welcoming with all its sport lovers citizens. I want to thank everybody who made possible this further, closer step, towards European Championships".

Three speeches scheduled: Siro Palladino - Media Communication Area for Foggia Fencing 2019 explained the articles belonging to deontology for sport Journalists; Giorgio Caruso - Press Secretary for Federscherma entertained the participants describing fencing media penetration ability, by illustrating how FIS (Italian Fencing Federation) transformed itself in an editorial composite structure, in collaboration with Italpress News agency, producing a greater presence on local newspapers (plus 35% fencing news in one year).

Italo Cucci -  Editor in Chief for Italpress News Agency was the most awaited lecture: he really touched the partecipants with his out-of-the-box speech.  Remembering his long professional experience,  live reporter of 6 Olympic Games and 11 Football World Championships, Cucci reaffirmed that the first deontologic principle of the journalist activity is Honesty, because Journalist has the duty to tell the truth. Sport journalist, in particular, is not only a narrator but the one who has found the exact language to be understood; sport journalists work with spirit of self-sacrifice and passion.
